TradeLog Version 8 - Trade Analysis Features

We are pleased to offer some powerful new features many of which are not found in any other trader tax software. Most of these features were requested by our users, and as we usual we have responded to your requests.

New Trade Analysis Features:

New Chart Reports

Version 8 includes exciting new chart reports to help you analyze your trading! Go to menu item: Reports, Chart to open the chart report menu. New report types include:

• Time of day
• Day of week
• Ticker compare
• Strategy compare

Sample Time-of-day chart:

If your broker reports time of day you can setup up to 10 time of day intervals to chart – see what times you are most profitable. How profitable are you during market open versus market close, or morning versus afternoon? How about during lunch time? As always, you can couple the chart reports with TradeLog’s comprehensive filters to really drill down into you data.

This report has proven to be an eye-opener for many of our users. Some traders simply cannot trade on Friday's...or maybe Monday is your bad day. Here is a no brainer - why not take that day off and give your self a raise! Or at least do something different on that day.

Sample Ticker compare chart:

Ever wonder which stocks traded are the most profitable? ...or the least profitable? At a glance it is easy to see that CSCO has been a big loser. It's probably time to stop beating a dead horse and stop trading this particular equity.

Trading Strategies

Brand new to version 8, users can now create user-defined strategies and then assign a strategy to a particular trade. You can then filter your trades and run reports based on strategy which allows you to see which trading strategies are bringing in the best results.

New Tax Features

TaxACT Export including support for E-filing

You've been asking us for more and better options to support e-filing your tax return along with accurate capital gains and losses from TradeLog... Version 8 features a TaxACT CSV Export, which generates a CSV file formatted for efficient importing into TaxACT (Deluxe versions only). This feature along with our partnership with TaxACT software will make it even easier to file your taxes.

Enhanced Option Exercise/Assign function

Version 8 features an enhanced option Exercise/Assign function, allowing you to exercise an option and make all necessary adjustments to the assigned stock positions. This enhanced function is now capable of handling most any exercise/assign scenarios.

Broad-Based Index Options

Version 8 includes increased support of broad-based index options. Users can now define securities to be treated as broad -based index options; TradeLog will then import those securities as futures in the type column allowing users to report those trades properly as section 1256 contracts. TradeLog includes predefined index options, these can be customized by going to menu item: Options, Global Options, then select the tab for Broad-Based Index Options.

Enhanced Futures support

Enhanced support of futures is also included in version 8. Users can now define securities to be treated as futures in addition to securities predefined in TradeLog. TradeLog will import defined securities as futures in the type column for proper reporting as section 1256 contracts.

NOTE: If you trade futures traded on foreign futures exchanges, such as DAX, be aware that TradeLog may not accurately reflect cost basis and gain and loss due to the currency exchange. Currently only Interactive Brokers provides the necessary currency exchange data for TradeLog to accurately report such futures transactions.

Enhanced Program Options

New Global Options dialog

A new popup dialog box called Global Options provides a single place for you to customize many settings in TradeLog. This is also where you’ll find the new Broad Based Index Options, Futures, and Strategy setup.

Embedded User Guide

Version 8 now includes an embedded user guide, making it easier for users to access TradeLog’s quick start and comprehensive user guides. To access the user guide go to Help, User Guide, or click the F1 key on your keyboard. The new user guide features easy navigation, a keyword index, and search box.
